Look At Me, Touch Me, Kiss Me
As the world grappled with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, filmmakers from Malaysia, Indonesia, and South Korea joined forces to create a cinematic trilogy that explores the universal theme of love amidst the challenges of the pandemic era.
Produced by Vera Lasut, the trilogy consists of “Look At Me,” “Touch Me,” and “Kiss Me,” each offering a unique perspective on human relationships and resilience during these unprecedented times.
“Look At Me” from Malaysia unfolds its narrative against the backdrop of the early days of the pandemic. Meanwhile, “Touch Me” from Indonesia captures the intensity of the pandemic’s peak. Finally, “Kiss Me” from South Korea showcases humanity’s triumph over adversity as it navigates through the pandemic.
In a series of meetings held in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Seoul, the stories of “Look At Me, Touch Me, Kiss Me” converge, weaving together the lives of characters from diverse backgrounds.
From a telemarketer for a loan company and the owner of a go-kart arena to a pub owner with a complicated past and a woman with a tumultuous history, the trilogy explores the intricacies of human connections amidst unprecedented challenges.
With each film representing a different cultural background, the trilogy aims to highlight the universal desire for love and connection.
“The common thread among these three countries is that everyone, regardless of nationality, shares the same dream of finding love and being loved,” explains producer Vera Lasut.
Reflection of Humanity’s Journey
Furthermore, the trilogy serves as a reflection of humanity’s journey through the COVID-19 pandemic from various parts of the world.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the collaboration between the three countries underscores the resilience of the human spirit, facilitated by technology and the digital era.
It also presents a promising opportunity for Indonesia to penetrate the international market, demonstrating the country’s potential in the global film industry.
Director Djenar Maesa Ayu expresses hope that “Look At Me, Touch Me, Kiss Me” will resonate with audiences worldwide.
“Screening the films online provides an opportunity for audiences everywhere to access the trilogy. Hopefully, the films will inspire love and connection among viewers,” she shares.
As part of the cast of “Touch Me,” actors Sha Ine Febriyanti and Marthino Lio echo similar sentiments. “Everyone needs love, and this film is released in the month of love. Enjoy,” Sha Ine Febriyanti encourages viewers.
