-Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Hilmar Farid, underlined the importance of increasing film appreciation and literacy for Indonesian people. In his statement, Hilmar stated, “This activity aims to encourage the public to get closer to and appreciate Indonesian film works which are rich in diverse stories and culture.”
In order to celebrate National Film Day, the Ministry of Education and Culture is holding a program to provide free tickets to watch selected Indonesian films. The aim of this program is to expand the reach of audiences and increase their understanding of the beauty and cinematic riches that Indonesia has.
Ahmad Mahendra, Director of Film, Music and Media at the Ministry of Education and Culture, also appreciated the support from cinema partners in efforts to increase public appreciation of domestic films. “We are very excited to see the extraordinary enthusiasm and support from the public in celebrating National Film Day and appreciating Indonesian film works,” said Mahendra.
This program not only involves providing free tickets with several well-known cinema chains such as XXI, CGV, Cinepolis Platinum, and Dakota Cinema, but is also accompanied by a number of other activities. Starting from Inclusive Discussions and Watching Together, Public Lectures and Screenings of the Usmar Film, to Ngabuburit with Film People, Exhibitions of Posters and Film Supporting Works, as well as Workshops and Honoring Legends of the Indonesian Film Profession.
More than nearly 1500 tickets distributed free of charge have been used by people throughout Indonesia to watch their favorite Indonesian films such as “Ronggeng Death” and “Agak Laen”.
“Continue to support and appreciate Indonesian film works, because with the support of all parties, we can continue to highlight the beauty and richness of this nation’s culture,” added Ahmad Mahendra.
With programs like this, it is hoped that public interest in Indonesian films will continue to increase, so that the Indonesian film industry can continue to develop and produce works that will make the Indonesian nation proud.
