Dancing Village the Curse Begins
The horror film “Badarawuhi di Desa Penari” is set to spread its wings with a screening in the United States.
The sequel to the film “KKN di Desa Penari” is making its way to American audiences through a collaboration between the production house MD Pictures and Lionsgate.
“Finally, what we’ve been waiting for, MD Pictures collaborates with Lionsgate. Lionsgate will distribute Badarawuhi di Desa Penari in America,” announced CEO of MD Pictures, Manoj Punjabi, during a virtual press conference.
During the event, Manoj also revealed the official English title for Badarawuhi di Desa Penari.
“Now we have an English title. It’s not Badarawuhi di Desa Penari anymore, but Dancing Village: The Curse Begins,” he revealed.
Premiere Event in Los Angeles
Manoj also stated that Dancing Village the Curse Begins will soon hold a premiere event in Los Angeles, USA, in the near future. The premiere event will be attended by the cast and crew.
“We are ready to go to LA. There will be 35 people from Indonesia who will depart and hold the LA premiere,” Manoj said.
The collaboration between MD Pictures and Lionsgate opens up opportunities for Badarawuhi di Desa Penari to be distributed in many other countries, not just the United States.
“Lionsgate will also distribute this film worldwide, in countries other than Southeast Asia,” he added.
“This is an extraordinary achievement. Lionsgate is a very large studio company that can support us. This is Indonesia’s journey to America,” he continued.
Dancing Village the Curse Begins arrives approximately two years after the release of its predecessor. The original film, “KKN di Desa Penari,” was adapted from a real-life story that went viral on social media.
When it premiered in 2022, “KKN di Desa Penari” became the first Indonesian film to surpass 10 million viewers, making it the highest-grossing Indonesian film of all time.
“The journey, well, many want to break into that market. But it’s not as easy as them accepting the product. Meeting Lionsgate is like fate, I believe this film can and deserves to succeed,” Manoj expressed.
Starring Aulia Sarah, Dinda Kanyadewi, Maudy Effrosina, Jourdy Pranata, Aming Sugandhi, Ardit Erwandha, and others.
Teman Nonton Film, Dancing Village the Curse Begins will be released in Indonesia during the Eid holiday season in 2024.
