PERAHU KERTAS

Trinity Entertainment Network, in collaboration with Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra (TRUST) and Indonesia Kaya, proudly presents Perahu Kertas the Musical — a heartfelt, emotional stage adaptation of Dee Lestari’s beloved novel Perahu Kertas.
The production will run from January 30 to February 15, 2026, at Ciputra Artpreneur, Jakarta, with a total of 21 performances.
Carrying the theme “Reignite Your Dreams,” this musical marks Trinity Entertainment Network’s first-ever venture into the world of stage productions.
“As a record label that has brought many popular works to life, stepping into musical theatre is a new and exciting chapter for us. We aim to help shape and elevate Indonesia’s creative and entertainment industry while adapting to today’s dynamic landscape. After the success of the song Perahu Kertas, bringing this musical to the stage is our way of expanding our creative horizons and giving our music a new life in theatrical form. This dream also comes true thanks to Indonesia Kaya, who has long championed the growth of Indonesia’s performing arts ecosystem,” said Yonathan Nugroho, CEO of Trinity Entertainment Network.
A Story Close to Many Hearts
Perahu Kertas has long resonated with readers for its themes of love, dreams, and staying true to oneself.
This adaptation is especially significant for Dee Lestari, as it marks the first time one of her works is transformed into a full-scale musical.
“Perahu Kertas gave me many new beginnings. I wrote it back in 1996 during my college years, but it wasn’t published until 2008. After the film adaptation, seeing it come alive on stage is a dream I’ve carried for years. This story remains one of my most-read works, and I hope the musical version will touch even more hearts and inspire audiences to reignite their own dreams,” Dee Lestari shared.
Where Music, Literature, and Theatre Meet
This musical is a collaborative production that blends the worlds of music, storytelling, and stage performance into one emotionally rich experience.
The show is produced by Billy Gamaliel, Eunike Elisaveta, and Chriskevin Adefrid, who play vital roles in shaping every aspect of the production.
“We wanted to create a stage experience that is not only visually stunning but also emotionally moving. This performance comes to life through the collective passion of many creative talents working side by side. The show also opens opportunities for young performers from the Ruang Kreatif Intensif Musikal Budaya program to showcase their abilities. After many long-running Indonesian shows in recent years, Perahu Kertas the Musical is a reminder that our performing arts can continue to thrive and be celebrated,” said Billy Gamaliel, Program Manager of Indonesia Kaya and Producer.
Kugy and Keenan’s Journey on Stage
The musical brings audiences back into the intertwined paths of Kugy and Keenan, two dreamers born from artistic worlds.
Kugy escapes into fairytales as her personal safe space, while Keenan — a gifted young painter — struggles under the weight of his father’s expectations.
When their worlds collide among billions of people, it feels as though the universe pauses for them.
Their story is one of self-discovery, choices, dreams, love, and the quiet emotions that are sometimes the hardest to express.
Deep down, they believe that someday their stories — and their hearts — will find their way to each other.
“The musical adaptation stays true to the novel. We highlight not only the love story but also each character’s journey in understanding themselves and accepting reality. Audiences will see how love, family, friendship, and dreams connect in ways that shape their life paths,” said Widya Arifianti, Scriptwriter.
Music That Breathes Life Into Every Scene
Director and choreographer Venytha Yoshiantini brings Kugy and Keenan’s emotional waves to life through expressive movement and storytelling.
The musical score is crafted by acclaimed composers Ifa Fachir and Simhala Avadana, featuring original music enriched with the signature spirit of Perahu Kertas.
The iconic theme song popularized by Maudy Ayunda will anchor the show emotionally, while new compositions such as Milyaran Manusia, Dua Manusia, Tahu Diri, and Langit Amat Indah deepen the story’s emotional journey.
Music direction is led by Nathania Karina, with arrangements by Ivan Tangkulung, blending Trinity Entertainment Network’s popular works with fresh new compositions.
