Ganesa Films has officially released the poster and trailer for their latest horror movie, “Syirik (Danyang Laut Selatan)”.
The launch event was held at Cinepolis Senayan Park and was attended by the film’s cast, including Richele Skornicki, Donny Alamsyah, Kinaryosih, and Totos Rasiti.
The film, directed by Hestu Saputra, tells the story of Said, a young man who returns to his village after years of studying at a pesantren.
However, his return uncovers a mysterious and supernatural threat to the people he cares about, especially Sari, the woman he loves.
The film boasts a unique approach, blending horror with romance, family conflict, and local culture.
The trailer showcases the film’s eerie atmosphere, with a mix of Javanese music and ritual scenes. The poster features the main characters in a haunting setting, surrounded by mysterious objects and symbols.
The film’s cast includes Richele Skornicki as Sari, Teuku Rasya as Said, Nikita Mirzani as Ningsih, and Donny Alamsyah as Ki Dalang. The film is set to be released on June 19, 2025, in cinemas across Indonesia.
Director Hestu Saputra explained that the film is a reflection of his childhood experiences growing up in a coastal village in Java. “I want to create a horror film that’s not just visually scary, but also emotionally resonant,” he said.
The film’s producer, Chandir Bhagwandas, added that the film will explore themes of power, ambition, betrayal, and love in the midst of chaos in a village. “We want to create a film that’s relevant to the younger generation, while still respecting the richness of local culture,” he said.
“Syirik (Danyang Laut Selatan)” promises to be a thrilling and emotionally charged film that explores the complexities of human nature and the dangers of manipulating cultural heritage. The trailer is now available on Ganesa Films’ YouTube channel and Instagram account @filmsyirik_official.
