Indonesian action star Joe Taslim stole the spotlight at the premiere of Mortal Kombat II, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about highlights of the event.
The big reveal? He’s officially returning to the franchise but not as the same character fans remember.
After portraying the legendary Sub-Zero (Bi-Han) in the first film, Joe Taslim is making a powerful comeback with a darker, more intense transformation as Noob Saibot. This evolution follows the original Mortal Kombat game lore, where Bi-Han rises again as a shadowy, fearsome entity after his death—making this return both iconic and faithful to the source material.
Set to hit Indonesian cinemas in May 2026, Mortal Kombat II is already generating massive buzz worldwide. Fans are especially excited to see Joe Taslim’s take on Noob Saibot, as he brings his signature athletic discipline and high-impact action performance to the role—raising expectations for one of the most epic character arcs in the franchise.

Joe Taslim plays Bi-Han, In the interview, he stated
“Bi-Han was born in Hell. In Netherrealm.
That bright, bright flame from Scorpion at the end of the first movie cast the darker shadow of Bi-Han.
And he goes even deeper into the darkness in this movie.
He’s a tortured soul now, an assassin. It’s a big responsibility to play this role, because you really want to do your best for all the fans around the world.
Probably just like everybody else, I grew up playing the game.
When I even hear ‘Mortal Kombat,’ I immediately think of fatality, friendship, Babality, ‘Get over here,’ ‘Sub-Zero Wins.’
This time, we’re trying to give justice to the fans, it’s a war between the realms.
Simon and Jeremy really expanded the world and made it more complex, but still faithful to the game.
The script is really strong and includes a lot more characters. But I do think the fight between Bi-Han and Scorpion in Netherrealm is going to be a fight that the fans will remember for another decade!”
