Indonesian Family Animation Garuda Di Dadaku Inspires Audiences to Dream Big and Believe in Themselves
Jakarta, Indonesia — June 3, 2026 — After years of development and the collaborative efforts of hundreds of Indonesian animation artists, Garuda Di Dadaku is finally ready to soar onto the big screen. The highly anticipated Indonesian animated family film will open in theaters nationwide on June 11, 2026.
Centered on the story of Putra (Keanu Azka), a young boy who dreams of becoming a player for the Indonesian national football team, Garuda Di Dadaku is far more than a sports story. It is an emotional journey about fear, self-doubt, failure, and the people who continue believing in us when we begin to lose faith in ourselves.
Along the way, Putra is accompanied by Gaga (Kristo Immanuel), a magical young Garuda who helps him rediscover his courage, and Naya (Quinn Salman), a loyal friend who reminds him that no dream is too big when we are not facing it alone.
Through a heartfelt adventure filled with humor, emotion, and inspiring life lessons, Garuda Di Dadaku delivers a universal message: miracles rarely begin with grand victories. More often, they begin with a small step forward, a simple act of support, and one person who chooses to believe.
A Personal Story About Courage and Confidence
For director Ronny Gani, the film’s message comes from a deeply personal place.
“Garuda Di Dadaku was born from experiences that are very close to my heart. Every child has felt inadequate at some point, feared failure, or believed their dreams were too far away to achieve. I have felt the same way. Often, what keeps us moving forward is not suddenly becoming brave, but having someone who believes in us before we believe in ourselves,” said Gani.
Producer Shanty Harmayn emphasized that the film was intentionally designed as a family experience.
“As parents, we sometimes forget how a simple sentence or a small gesture of support can determine whether a child takes the next step or gives up. Garuda Di Dadaku is a reminder that the confidence we give children today can become part of their biggest dreams tomorrow,” Harmayn explained.
A Landmark Collaboration for Indonesian Animation
Beyond its uplifting story, Garuda Di Dadaku represents one of the largest creative collaborations in Indonesian animation to date.
Produced by KAWI Animation, the film brings together hundreds of artists, animators, designers, and technical specialists from leading Indonesian creative studios, including Imaji Studio, Manimonki Studio, Leomotions Studio, Robot Playground Media, Ayena Studio, BRD Studio, Bara Studio, AtomicTune Studio, Loom Creations, Moving Things Production, IMV Studio, Shark Animation, LiteFX, and Brown Bag Films Bali.
The project showcases the growing strength and ambition of Indonesia’s animation industry while delivering a story rooted in the experiences of Indonesian families.
International Recognition at Shanghai International Film Festival 2026
Even before its domestic release, Garuda Di Dadaku has already gained international recognition.
The film has been selected as one of the nominees in the Animation category of the Golden Goblet Awards at the Shanghai International Film Festival 2026, competing alongside animated productions from Brazil, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, Spain, Chile, and Argentina.
